Kaffe Fassett is a world-renowned textile artist, author, and lecturer who has dedicated over 50 years to transforming the worlds of knitting, needlepoint, and patchwork. Born in San Francisco in 1937, Kaffe initially trained as a fine artist at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School before relocating to London in 1964. There, an inspirational trip to a Scottish wool mill sparked a lifelong obsession with color, launching his career into mainstream fashion and global textile art.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kaffe’s brilliant, complex designs have been featured in Vogue Knitting, modeled by Kate Moss, and commissioned by icons like Barbra Streisand and Lauren Bacall. His enduring corporate partnerships include designing landmark pattern kits for Rowan Yarns, leading needlepoint collections for Ehrman Tapestries, and developing internationally distributed printed fabrics, such as his famous shot cottons and Indian stripes.

A historic milestone occurred in 1988 when Kaffe became the first living textile artist to have a solo exhibition at London's Victoria & Albert Museum—a blockbuster show that later toured nine countries. His multimedia genius has also extended to set and costume design for the Royal Shakespeare Company, a gold-medal-winning garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, and high-profile fashion collaborations, such as the Coach x Kaffe collection.

An acclaimed author of nearly 50 publications, including his best-selling debut Glorious Knitting and his autobiography Dreaming in Color, Kaffe acts as a global "color guru." As a passionate patron of various international textile guilds and charities, he continues to tour the world, conducting workshops that inspire makers to trust their creative instincts and embrace vibrant color.
