Raised in Carmel, New York, Morris began formal training at age eleven under German sculptor Paul Rudin. He later studied architecture at Temple University before shifting his focus to commercial art. Launching his professional licensing career in 1994, he gained early acclaim by designing greeting cards for Sunrise Greetings and tour merchandise for legendary musical acts, including The Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, and The Band.

These high-profile collaborations propelled Morris into the mainstream retail market.
