Jason Yenter, a prominent figure in the textile industry, grew up completely immersed in a world of fabric and artistic expression. His journey began in 1977 when his mother, Sharon, founded In The Beginning Fabrics as a modest, 400-square-foot shop on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, tucked above a family dollhouse store. Over the years, the business expanded into a vibrant, 6,000-square-foot destination celebrated for community and creative inspiration.

Jason’s hands-on education in the trade started early; by middle school, he was stocking fabric bolts, and as a high school senior, he completed his first quilt for a humanities project. This early milestone sparked a lifelong passion for textile design. When the family business expanded to launch its own manufacturing and fabric division in 1996, Jason debuted his very first collection, Atlantis.

Since that initial release, Jason has become famous for a signature design aesthetic defined by deep, rich colors, dramatic large-scale prints, and intricate patterns. His striking artwork has been featured on millions of yards of premium cotton fabric, as well as on men's apparel and paper goods for major retail chains like Michaels.

Today, Jason focuses his creative talents on developing captivating fabric collections, original quilt patterns, and instructional literature. He has authored more than 16 published quilting books, which frequently coordinate with his fabric lines to provide comprehensive inspiration. Through his innovative work, Jason continues to inspire and empower quilters and sewists across the globe.
